Surrender of a single state exam is an important step in the life of every graduate. For some, this is a formality that allows you to receive a document on education, and for someone - the opportunity to successfully enter the desired university in the country. But, sometimes fate makes unexpected adjustments in a person’s life. So, in 2017, 3.4% of all USE participants could not overcome the barrier required to obtain a certificate. An even greater number failed to gain the scores required for admission to highly rated universities. What to do if I “flunked” the exam and is a second attempt possible?
Until 2017 the right to re- passing the exam was provided only to persons who did not overcome the minimum threshold for compulsory subjects, on the delivery of which the receipt of a certificate depends.
One of the important innovations of 2017 was the possibility of retaking any subject submitted to the exam. Thus, in 2018 it will be possible to get a second attempt in the Russian language, mathematics, physics, computer science, literature, chemistry, biology, geography, social studies, history or foreign languages.
It is important to take into account the following facts:
- You can only retake 1 exam.
- You can now try to retake an item twice.
- You can retake one subject if there is a good reason for that (documentary evidence is required) or if you wish (in order to increase the score, you can retake the exam next year).
- Graduates of previous years who took part in the preliminary or main session of the Unified State Exam-2018 and received an unsatisfactory score do not receive the right to retake.
- If a graduate is not allowed to retake in 2018, he can retake the exam in a year.
Dates for retaking the exam in 2018
In 2018, it will be possible to retake one of the USE subjects, which was not submitted the first time, twice:
- 1 retake - in the summer on the reserve days indicated in the USE calendar;
- 2 retake - in September 2018.
Thus, by increasing the score to the desired one by 1 attempt, you can have time to apply to the university on the main wave. After 2 retakes, it is unlikely to enter the budget. But, this is another chance for those for whom the issue of obtaining a document on education remains open. Although, many universities, in which there is a shortage of applicants for state-funded places, sometimes conduct additional enrollment in the autumn months.
The validity of the USE certificate 2018 is 4 years. This means that after passing the exam on the 3rd attempt, the graduate gets a chance to enter the desired university next year according to the exam results already in hand.

Who will be eligible to retake the exam in 2018
According to the new rules in 2018, the retake of any subject of the exam is possible in such cases:
- unsatisfactory result;
- failure to appear for an exam for a good reason (documentary evidence is required);
- incomplete test (for a good reason: poor health of the examinee, state of emergency at the site conducting the exam and etc.);
- cancellation of the test result (not through the fault of the examinee).
A weighty reason for non-attendance means: illness or planned surgery (confirmation - a certificate from a doctor), a car accident, death of a close relative and other similar situations.
Who will not be able to retake exams in 2018
Such a chance as retaking the exam is a great gift for all applicants in 2018. But, in some cases, graduates may be deprived of this right. You will not be able to use the second attempt if:
- The examinee will be removed from the audience for a gross violation of the rules (cheating, using a telephone, a programmable calculator, communicating with neighbors, etc.).
- The result of the exam will be canceled due to the fault of the examinee (for example, when the facts of violation of the rules are revealed after watching the archived video).
- An unsatisfactory result was obtained in two subjects at once.
- In the case of a graduate of previous years gaining a score below the minimum level for the subject.

For a profile exam, this is 27 points out of 100, for a basic one - 3 points out of 5 possible. Suppose a graduate received an unsatisfactory grade immediately both on the basis and on specialized mathematics. He will be allowed to retake mathematics, choosing a basic or profile level. But the one that gets "failed" again will have to come to the exam next year. Most schools grade the core exam on a pass-fail basis. Misspellings or typographical errors are not considered grounds for replacement. On it, as well as on the first, test, part of the exam, you can "train". The developers of the Unified State Examination are asking you for an almost mathematical work with a little literary background.
Every year, the requirements for an essay change somewhat - this year an argument from life may become acceptable, and next year such an example in the text may not be counted. However, the recommended structure of "graduate work" has remained unchanged since 2010.
Different school teachers offer their own paragraph division of the text - as a rule, they note that there should be 7 or 8 "pieces". We will focus on the first number, as optimal.
The selection of each paragraph with a new line is justified by the criteria USE scores. And for each small "part" of the composition there is a cliché that needs to be learned and not deviated from anywhere.
Paragraph No. 1. Statement of the problems of the text
In order to write the first and, in fact, the most important sentence of your work with the highest quality (after all, the entire text depends on the correct formulation of the problem), you need to determine several things: what text is in front of us (fiction, journalistic or scientific) and who is its author. If the first is optional and requires your ability to "distinguish", then the second is elementary and is not performed by some students only because of laziness.
At the end of each text, the USE developers give a certificate about who the author is: what is his profession and at what time he lived. Be sure to use this information in the first paragraph.

He should explain (before or after the second cliché) why the question raised by the author seems important to you. Further, it is important to say about its relevance, the idea is that the texts that are offered by the developers of the exam speak of the eternal (human feelings and emotions, philosophy, sins, ecology, history, etc.).

Be sure to include this phrase in the second paragraph and supplement it.
Paragraph number 3. Identification of the author's position
You need to find in the text of the exam the main, main thesis of the author, his "message" related to the problem of the material.
"Cliche" with which we begin the paragraph:
The "quoted" part is taken directly from the text, that is, we supplement our words with excerpts from the examination material.
Paragraph No. 4. Commentary on the position of the author
You should always be in solidarity with her. Remember this once and for all. In my practice, I met students who wrote that they did not agree with famous publicists, writers, etc. They lost points.
If the developers of the Unified State Examination have chosen the work of one or another author for the exam, then this person is a priori respected, and therefore any of your "liberties" (with some exceptions, if you brilliantly parry and give serious arguments "against") can seriously spoil your results.
If you don’t know what to write, then supplement the sentence with a modified (you can’t repeat) thought of your own comment on the problem (see paragraph No. 2).
Paragraph number 5. Argument one
Let's start with the "cliche":

And we supplement the last paragraph with your main thesis, which (in fact) will completely echo the author's position. Write in different words.
The last sentence of your essay should be positive. Never end on a sad note, no matter what your work is about. This is important, because the teacher who checks the exam should have a positive impression of her (no matter how "double" your work may be).
The unified state exam is what causes genuine fear among graduates, slight excitement among their parents and awe among teachers.
